Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October 31st that has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, where people lit bonfires and wore costumes to ward off ghosts. In the 8th Century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1st as All Saints Day. Soon after, the evening before became known as All Hallows Eve (later Halloween) and incorporated some elements of Samhain (you can imagine which ones!). Nowadays, the tradition seems to have evolved into what we now find commonplace: trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, wearing costumes, and so on.
Halloween might be full of haunts for children, but adults love the festivities too! In the night of monsters and ghosts, let the decorating freak in you out and about for some ghoulish spooks! Whether you’re throwing a party at your home or commercial bar, you will need to step up your decorations, so that no one forgets they once attended to your Halloween party.

Of course decorating for this holiday doesn’t have to be hard, and Halloween decor ideas certainly do not have to go overboard. After all, Halloween is about warding off ghosts, not people! You don’t want anyone to run away terrified of your decorating skills!
Don’t offer sophistication as a sacrifice to the shadowy gods of Halloween. What you want is the typical spooky vibe, with a suitable color scheme and fitting decorations. Trick out your bar so that no one questions your commitment to this holiday!

Colors
Choose a palette that is sinister but also elegant! As we said before, you want to spook people, not terrify them. Don’t make your bar decor all black, for example (we beg you, actually).
Remember that Halloween takes a lot from mysticism, so your chosen color palette should reflect that. Orange and black are the traditional colors, but purple, red, white and green are also great options and you can make some good combos using them.

Decorations
What we recommend is small decorative pieces that are easily movable and affordable. Plastic spiders, spider webs, skulls and cauldrons are typical spooky decorations that you can use and easily purchase from your local dollar store. Make sure you follow tradition and include jack-o-lanterns somewhere. If you want to spice up your bar decor, you can be a bit more creative and serve your drinks in test tubes and spread skeletons, fake body parts and fake blood around!

Lighting
Lamps can make all the difference, since the perfect lighting can maximize the potential of your ambience by making decorations come together. Speaking of lamps, jack-o-lanterns have no rival when it comes to Halloween decor! They are both lamps and accessories and will definitely add a touch of spookiness to your Halloween bar decor.
