Bright, airy, sexy and transportive is the vibe we wanted to create with the design of Elda,” Emily and Hannah told Dezeen. The Caribbean and Mexican inspiration is evident in every detail, fusing with contemporary design that really holds it all together in a beautiful way.

The sister interior designers behind this project made the best out of the 2,800-square-foot (260-square-metre) space and painted the exposed brick walls while bringing wood floors and other wood accents such as the chairs and stools to add a natural warmth and beauty.

We used a warm mix of tropical wood tones, colourful handmade tiles, cementitious plaster walls inspired by Mexican adobe-style architecture and lots of natural greenery.

The custom colorful light fixtures are one of the main highlights in the bar, and probably one of our favorite elements of this bar decor. These geometric lights come in shades of green and red and are hung from a wooden trellis above a table in the main double-height space.

There are two distinct areas to sit, one of them being the built-in booth featuring a wood base and an upholstered back coloured in taupe runs along one wall, and the other a glazed corner nook with built-in seating, anchored by a large woven light fixture. Natural light flows inside so easily that it just adds to that natural ambiance the designers focused on.

Upstairs, you’ll find a different area, more colorful, contrasting with the bright white space downstairs. Called Cheeky’s, it is designed like a Jamaican dance hall and features green tiled floors and a yellow lacquered ceiling, as well as black stools and tables in yellow, teal, cobalt and peach hues.
