Have you ever wondered how you design an open-concept space that could function as a photoshoot location, yoga studio, design studio, or a bridal shower? Find out more about Light Lab LA studio!

Founded by Anne Sage and Caroline Lee, Light Lab is a creative studio and an event space located in Los Angeles. Light Lab has a range of meeting rooms & event spaces for hire, with the largest able to accommodate a maximum of 150 guests.

The duo transformed the once been abandoned warehouse into this bold, playful, and outspoken space that catches everyone’s attention with its bright and happy colors

Because of the large range of how the interior can be used by clients, Sage and Lee wanted to make sure it felt “cool and memorable” without alienating any potential clients, a challenge within itself. Not only that, but the team of Light Lab LA focused also on “versatility and durability”.

“Even though we’re not a small square footage, we certainly faced the challenges that come with making an open-concept space feel welcoming and homey,” Sage says. “We were very mindful of using decor elements strategically to carve out specific “functional zones” — in other words using furnishings to create walls where there are none.”

“Our goal is always for people to walk into our space and immediately sense the values by which we run our business,” Sage says. “We’re creative and forward-thinking, fun and lighthearted, but also inclusive, accessible, and loving. The biggest compliment we can get is ‘Wow, I love the energy in here.’ And we’re happy to say, it’s one we get a lot!”

Looking at the used materials and colors, we can ascertain that the space is dominated by brick walls, concrete floors, and white walls and ceiling. To have a harmonious space they added a lot of color in the furniture and accessories.

“I love velvet—it feels like you can just sink into it but it reads posh and sophisticated at the same time. We also add polish with accents in brass, leather, and marble. The kitchen is more of a blank slate so someone else can style it as they like. Texture-wise, we embraced the exposed brick and painted wood. The concrete floors are functional of course, but I also really love the look of them in our Light Lab LA.”
