“We were trying to bottle the feeling of dining in them,” Shawn Sullivan, Rockwell Group’s partner and studio leader, tells ELLE DECOR. “It’s something in the way the lighting casts a warm glow and the collection of art on the walls that made these restaurants so iconic.”

Step into the Corner Store, a nostalgic throwback to classic New York eateries. The vintage pulpit-turned-host-stand and antique glass walls create an inviting atmosphere. The dining area, with its velvet-upholstered booths and unique lighting fixtures, offers a stylish and comfortable setting. The checkered tile floor, with its unexpected pop of coral, adds a playful touch.

The main dining room is a spacious and inviting space, with caned wood ceilings and comfortable booths upholstered in luxurious fabrics. The walls are adorned with framed photographs depicting New York City in the 1970s and ’80s, adding a touch of nostalgia.

“The Corner Store is meant to be an intimate gathering space with great food and warm atmosphere,” Sullivan says. “We want people to feel at ease, like they are in their everyday place.” But of course, this space is anything but prosaic. Taylor Swift has already shown up twice. And yes, you’ll have to snag a spot on the weeks-long waiting list for any hope of a reservation.
