With its unique ideas for Selfridges in London, Alex Cochrane Architects was the perfect interior design expert for this incredible idea, resulting in a welcoming environment of warm minimalism, bold jewel tones, and simple geometries. The final result was a sophisticated luxury environment with a few pops of color and shiny metallic details that gave the interior design a fun twist.
Founded in 2009, the Alex Cochrane Architects studio is on top of the leader board when we talk about the best interior design experts in London. They have given a brand new sense to a simple department store in Toronto by adding a superchic restaurant design project that will elevate the overall experience!
After completing a foundation course in Fine Art, Alex Cochrane studied Interior Architecture at Chelsea College of Art and completed his studies in Architecture and Urbanism at the Architectural Association in London. After completing his education, he decided to work and gain experience with award-winning architectural practices, such as Eldridge Smerin (Stirling Prize nominee) and Tom de Paor (Young Architect of the Year).
After working with some of the best in the industry, Alex Cochrane decided that it was time to create his own design studio where we could highlight his own signature style. His current design projects include the substantial refurbishments of Selfridges’ Executive and Byers and Merchandise Offices on Oxford Street, the sensitive refurbishment of Marcel Breuer’s de Bijenkorf building in Rotterdam and a large restaurant in Holt Renfrew’s flagships store in Toronto.
A high-end department store can have a unique place in the life of a city to improve the overall luxury experience, and that was precisely what this interior design expert has done with this restaurant project. After 11 years, of creating beautiful interiors, the Alex Cochrane Architects studio has done it again with its recent restaurant design that is all about the luxury design details and bold pops of color.
On Holt Renfrew’s new interior design by Alex Cochrane Architects, the cafe’s bar, lounge, and main and private dining rooms total 3,300 square feet area. All of these unique spaces employ a restrained materials palette of white oak, rosewood, brass, and milky terrazzo, and have some degree of visual connection.
